The OpenOffice.org community - responsible for the leading free software alternative to Microsoft Office - today welcomed IBM as a community member. IBM has announced immediate code contributions and ongoing engineering support to the community, and will leverage OpenOffice.org technology in its own products.

IBM melder seg inn i OpenOffice.org og vil stille 35 utviklere til rådighet for å forbedre kontorpakken.
Selskapet skal også bidra med programvare og vil stille deler av koden bak Lotus Notes til rådighet
for åpen kildekode-utviklere. Til gjengjeld vil IBM bruke OpenOffice.org-applikasjoner
i selskapets egne produkter.
